As most origami enthusiasts already know, it is based on two Japanese words oru (to fold) and kami (paper). To understand origami, one should start with its definition. What started as a simple desire to share photos of my folding unfolded into the writing of this book. Ever since I started exhibiting photos of my origami designs on the Internet, I began to receive innumerable requests from the fans of my website to write a book. Preface Never did I imagine that I would end up writing an origami book. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 17: Now, take another unit and insert its tip into the other pocket. Starting with 2 units, insert one tip into one pocket as shown below. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 16: Now, if you've made the other modular origami on this site before, you'd know that to assemble the units, often times we just insert the tips into pockets. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 15: Repeat Steps 1 to 14 and make a total of 6 units. Make the 4 small diagonal mountain folds to shape the heart. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 14: Flip paper over. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 13: Make 2 vertical folds as shown. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 12: Flip paper over. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 11: Make another mountain fold where indicated. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 10: Now fold the bottom edge to line AB. If you're not sure what they are, please refer to our separate page on valley and mountain folds. Remember that mountain folds are the opposite of valley folds. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 9: Now make a mountain fold where indicated. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 8: Flip paper over. Fold the bottom edge over the first horizontal crease. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 7: Unfold paper. ![]() When completed, your paper should now look like this. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 6: Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for the top half of the paper. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 5: Fold the bottom part to the center again. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 4: Fold the bottom edge to the center. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 3: Fold both the right and left sides to the center. ![]() Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 2: Fold paper in half on both horizontal and vertical axis. We used 3 large sheets, each of a different color, to make the 6 units needed for this cube. We ended up using a large 25cm x 25cm (~10inch x 10inch) square origami paper and cutting that in half. If you use the regular 6 inch (15cm) square paper, you'll end up with a very small 1.5 inch cube. Origami Modular Heart Cube Step 1: Start by cutting a square origami paper in half.
